History of the School
•    On February 10, 1990, by Resolution No. 48 of the Council of Ministers of the Mongolian People’s Republic, the “Specialized Secondary School for Training Teachers and Cultural Workers” was established with 12 teachers, 13 staff members, and 77 students. The school began training primary school teachers, kindergarten educators, cultural workers, and music teachers.
•    On November 23, 1996, by Order No. 120 of the Minister of Education, the school became the “Teachers’ College of Bayan-Ulgii Province under the State Teachers’ University”, obtaining the status of a “college granting higher education diplomas.”
•    During the 1999–2000 academic year, the school established its first international partnerships with East Kazakhstan State University (Kazakhstan), Gorno-Altai State University (Russia), and Barnaul State University (Russia), marking the beginning of its international relations.
•    In the 2001–2002 academic year, the school received official permission to offer Bachelor’s degree programs.
•    In 2001, new departments were opened to train Kazakh Language and Literature Teachers and Mathematics Teachers.
•    The school also launched one-year full-time and two-year part-time programs for retraining graduates with higher diplomas in Primary Education.
•    On May 29, 2003, the school received Institutional Accreditation Certificate No. 51 from the State Certification and Accreditation Committee (BMIZÜ) for a period of five years — the first such accreditation in its history.
•    In 2003, new departments were opened for Mongolian Language and Literature, Preschool Education, and History and Social Science Education.
•    By 2004, the school had developed a structured system with four departments:
o    Mathematics and Informatics Department
o    Social Sciences Department
o    Mongolian Language and Literature Department
o    Foreign Languages Department
•    In 2005, the school began offering Master’s degree programs in collaboration with the State University of Education (Ulaanbaatar).
•    In 2006, the school’s gymnasium (sports hall) was newly built and put into operation.
•    Also in 2006, a new Mathematics and Informatics Teacher Training Department was opened.
•    In 2008, one of the school’s teachers, J. Khinalgan, defended her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Linguistics — becoming the school’s first Ph.D. holder.
•    In 2008, with investment from the World Bank, major renovations were carried out in the school’s “A” and “B” academic buildings at a cost of 199 million tugriks.
•    In 2009, the school successfully completed its second institutional accreditation, valid for 10 years.
•    On January 20, 2010, by Government Resolution No. 15, the school became the Bayan-Ulgii Branch School of Khovd University, officially attaining university status.
•    In 2010, the school celebrated its 20th anniversary.
•    Also in 2010, the school library building was opened, providing the institution with an independent library for the first time.
•    In 2012, a new program in Environmental and Ecological Management was launched.
•    In 2015, the school became a full member of the National Council for Education Accreditation, receiving an official Certificate of Membership.
•    In the same year, a one-year transition program for Primary Education Teachers was introduced.
•    By 2018, according to Order No. A/182 of the Rector of Khovd University, the school adopted a new structure consisting of:
o    Department of Educational Studies and Methodology
o    Department of Natural and Social Sciences
•    In 2018, the school received a two-year special license to conduct teacher certification programs and launched the corresponding courses.
•    In 2020, for the first time, the “Preschool Education” and “Primary Education” programs were accredited for a period of five years.
•    On August 3, 2022, by Government Resolution No. 293, the school was restructured as the “Bayan-Ulgii Branch School of the Mongolian National University of Education (MNUE).”
•    In 2022, with investment from the Swiss Give2Asia International Project, a new dormitory for 45 students was constructed and put into operation.
•    Since 2024, the school has implemented additional programs to train Assistant Primary Teachers and Assistant Special Education Teachers.
•    In 2024, the school received a special license to operate the “General Education School of the Bayan-Ulgii Branch of the Mongolian National University of Education.”
